New Bollywood Movie Peepli Live Dialogue Promo

Peepli Live is a satire on the rampant farmers’ suicides that have rocked India in the recent years. The satirical depiction of epidemic of suicides by farmers under debt might be viewed as a case study in bad taste, but the warm-hearted populism of Peepli Live will probably win over anxious exhibitors. Peepli Live has a huge cast boasting of Omkar Das Manikpuri, Raghubir Yadav, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Malaika Shenoy but its story focuses on everyman Natha (Omkar Das Manikpuri), a poor pot-smoking farmer in the village of Peepli who can’t pay back his government loan and risks losing his land.

The film’s protagonist, Natha, is a poor farmer from Peepli village in the heart of rural India and is about to lose his plot of land due to an unpaid loan. He finds a solution to his problem in the government scheme that bails out the families of indebted farmers who have committed suicide. So as a means of survival Natha opts to die! With the impending local elections, and an encouraging brother who is happy to push him towards this unique ‘honor’, Natha becomes a celebrity overnight with political bigwigs, high-ranking bureaucrats, local henchmen and the ever-zealous media making a beeline for the sleepy town of Peepli. The question on everyone’s lips - “Will he or Won’t he?” As the mania escalates what will be the fate of Natha?

The film is directed by yet another debutant director Anusha Rizvi, who has also written the film. The film stars Naya Theatre company member Omkar Das Manikpuri, Raghubir Yadav, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa and Malaika Shenoy, along with a number of newcomers. Peepli Live, distributed by UTV Motion Pictures is scheduled for release on August 13, 2010.

Japanese films aren't all violent: How about Hideaki Anno's Love and Pop - a bizarre tale of a girl who goes on a series of phone organised 'play dates' with older working men, so that she can buy a ring she comes across at a local mall. There isn't really much of a plot, or indeed much meaning, until the end, where she finds herself having learned the great lesson, "don't prostitute yourself, even if you want to buy something really bad", as a result of a pseudo-rape at the hands of a client.

However, it has to be said, the best Japanese films are invariably peppered with graphic violence. Of course, I'm not so sick as to enjoy watching an hour and a half of constant blood and gore, but the occasional battle intertwined within a twisted, gripping plot is something which all of the best Japanese films invariably possess. Take the classic Battle Royale: Everybody knows it has deep meaning behind the inevitable bloodbath. I just love the cold, harsh reality of this kind of game that hopefully will never happen: it's like a film version of Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene. Girls who claim they are friends in the normal school environment end up poisoning and shooting eachother in the game, as the true nature of their friendship is exposed. And that's what this film is all about: true love, true friendship. That between Noriko and Nanahara is true love: sacrificing all for your soulmate; and Kawada's relationship with those two is another kind of love, also known as friendship.

But my favorite J-film of all time has to be the more recent Love Exposure, written and directed by Sion Sono. At over 4 hours long, it is one of those once in a lifetime films, and a piece of art that is extremely hard to summarize in one sentence. It is on the one hand extremely funny, tongue in cheek and ridiculously bizarre; on the other, it is a serious, epic tale about true love, cult religion and childhood trauma, and the disastrous effects this can have in later life (surely a nod to the writer/director's own painful childhood). Once I saw Love Exposure, I quickly went and bought Sion Sono's other works, such as Suicide Club and Noriko's Dinner Table.

It seems Deepika is playing a role of a blind girl and Neil Nitin Mukesh that of a fighter The film will be released worldwide. Neil Nitin Mukesh also affirmed that all the action in the film is real and so is the physical violence. The actor was left bruised and wounded after he shot for this film. The rumour doing rounds is that, this movie is about the bike gangs of Mumbai and Neil and Deepika will be seen doing daring stunts in the film. But considering that Neil's character is called 'One Shot Nandu', there might be a bit of Guy Ritchie influence too. Let’s hope that this new pair of can create magic both on screen as well as the box office.

The film is being directed by Pradeep Sarkar and is being produced by Aditya Chopra. This is Pradeep Sarkar’s second film under the Yashraj Films banner, the previous one being ‘Laaga Chunari Me Daag’, which did moderately well at the box office.
